A concrete family pool usually takes six to ten weeks. The time depends on the weather, the ground and the surface finish you choose. You get a dated plan before we start, and we tell you when the weather changes it.

We do not publish prices, because the price depends on size, depth, ground conditions, surface and the filtration system. What we do is a quote with every part written out separately: excavation, shell, waterproofing, system, surface and labour. That way you can see where the money goes and what could come out.

Concrete poured on site gives complete freedom in shape, depth, steps and edge, and it can be repaired and resurfaced many years later. A ready-made shell installs far faster but comes in fixed sizes and gets replaced if it cracks. We build in concrete.

It depends on the space and on the use. For real swimming the length matters; for a family with children a wide shallow end matters more. The practical rule is not to fill the whole garden: the space around the pool gets used as much as the water.

Around 1.20 m for children and standing, around 1.50 m for ordinary swimming, and around 2.00 m if you want to dive from the edge. Many family pools combine a shallow end with a deeper one.

Requirements vary by municipality and by the type of building, so this has to be checked with the local authority before starting. We tell you what technical documentation the construction side may need, but the permission is obtained by the owner.

Less than most people expect. The pump's electricity is the main cost, then the chemicals. A cover lowers both, and a robot removes most of the work. We give you the numbers for your own pool's size, not a general figure.

The surface and the floor need cleaning at least once a week in season, or daily if you have a robot. Water values are measured several times a week. Skimmer baskets are emptied weekly.

There is no single amount that fits every pool: it depends on the water volume, the temperature and how much the pool is used. The level is measured with a test kit and kept within the range recommended by pool water standards. Give us the dimensions and we will give you the quantity worked out for your pool.

Usually the cause is not the chlorine, it is the pH being out of range. When the pH is wrong the disinfectant works poorly and the water irritates eyes and skin. Measure the pH first and correct it, then look at the disinfectant.

Cloudiness is more often a filtration or circulation problem than a chemical one: a saturated filter, a pump running too few hours, or spent filter media. Check the filter pressure and the pump run time before adding more chemicals.

Long enough for the whole water volume to pass through the filter several times in twenty-four hours. The exact hours follow from the pool volume and the pump's flow rate, so they are worked out for each pool.

No. An empty pool is at risk from ground pressure and groundwater. The water is dropped below the skimmers, the pipes and equipment are drained so they cannot freeze, and the cover is closed.

From the water volume and the turnover time, not from the motor rating. Work out how many cubic metres the pool holds and how many times the water should pass through the filter in a day; that gives the flow you need. The filter is then chosen to handle that flow.

Filter sand is replaced after several years, when the grains lose their edge and filtration drops off. Recycled glass lasts longer. The practical sign is pressure climbing back quickly after every backwash.

If you currently vacuum the pool yourself, a robot removes almost all of that weekly work. If the pool is always covered and there are few leaves around it, the benefit is smaller. A robot replaces neither the filter nor chemical balancing.

It holds the heat, cuts evaporation and chemical use, and keeps leaves out. For families with small children, closing the surface is the main reason. It replaces neither a safety fence nor supervision.

Recycled glass filters finer, needs less backwashing and lasts longer. Quartz sand is cheaper to buy and remains the classic choice.
