Low-edged pool with a mountain view
A pool with a clean line and low edges, built in a garden that has a view. The whole idea was that the pool should not block that view: no high surround, no wall around the water, and a low edge.

When the view is the most valuable thing in the garden
In a garden with a view, the most common mistake is a pool that sits up above the ground or is walled in. After that, the water is only visible when you are standing next to it.
Here the shape is rectangular and low, set so that the waterline reads together with the horizon. When you are not in the water, the pool does not ask for attention.
What a low edge asks for
Low edges make the skimmers more sensitive to wind: the surface moves more easily and dirt is pushed towards one side. So the position of the skimmers and the return inlets was chosen from the prevailing wind in that garden rather than from symmetry.
What the work involved
Like every concrete pool we build, this one went through the same steps: excavation, formwork, steel mesh, pipework, a single concrete pour, waterproofing, the surface, and then the filtration system.
